Do you have to try out for Church League Basketball?

Who can play?

High School students enrolled in grades 9-12 who are not playing Varsity Basketball. We have tried a girls league in the past, but have not gained enough interest to keep it around. This does not mean that we will not look into it in the future again. Please contact us if you have any specific questions.

How many players do I need for a team?

Teams are made up of 10 players. You do not need all spots filled in order to sign up a team, we will fill open spots.

Do we need to attend practice during the week?

No. There is not formal practice time for Church League Basketball. With that being said, we have heard of teams in the past getting together during the week. While we think this is pretty cool, it is by no means a requirement.

If I sign up, am I guaranteed a spot to play?

Unfortunately, no. Due to limited resources, among other things, we cannot guarantee spots to play. We do our best to include as many players as we possibly can, hence why we fill open spots on teams. We use multiple factors when determining which teams play, including time stamps on team submissions, returning teams, complete teams, and grades of players. This by no means is a comprehensive list of factors, nor does it guarantee spots. We do not take any of our decisions on teams lightly.

How do I know if I am playing?

We will contact captains and individuals throughout the process of Church League Basketball signup. We try to have every team filled and finalized by the week before Church League Basketball starts.

Do we have to provide jerseys as a team?

No. Jerseys are included with your sign up fee, and are yours to keep. It is expected that all players wear their jerseys while playing Church League Basketball. If teams want to provide/wear their own team apparel, aside from jerseys, they certainly can while not on the court. We just ask that no one on the team is left out.

Do we need a coach?

We strongly encourage that all teams have a coach. We have no requirements as to who the coach has to be, or qualifications they may have. If your team would like us to find a coach, please contact us, as we have Youth Pastors, parents, and other volunteers that would love to help coach teams.

OTHER INFORMATION

• Although not directly affiliated with Church League Basketball, patches for Letterman's Jackets have been previously made at Sportland in Moorhead. While we think this is pretty cool, we have no information on ordering. Our suggestion is to contact Sportland, or some other business you have used before.

• We have full time jobs and families, so please be patient with us. We try to get back to questions/concerns in a timely manner, but may not be able to respond right away.
